ROULA SAID
Explore the wisdom of the feminine through the ancient lens of bellydance as interpreted and re-imagined by modern day master instructor, Roula Said.
Roula Said is a dancer, musician and vocalist. She has devoted the last 20 years to studying, teaching, choreographing and performing Middle eastern dance and music.
Her journey into a culture specific art form has taken her into realms of artistic exploration and personal healing that transcend any one culture. Roula has a true gift for distilling the essence of bellydance, which she embodies and transmits as a "Love Yoga".
KAREN HOLMES
Karen Holmes, B.Ed., MRE (Master of Religious Education), Spiritual Director, Registered Yoga Teacher (500 hours) and Herbalist-in-training is a retreat facilitator who has extensive experience in encouraging spiritual formation in people from many walks of life.
She has worked as an elementary and highschool teacher, a Waldorf early childhood teacher and as an adult educator, programme designer and spiritual director.
She desires that all people have an opportunity to voice their own heart-song and wild-heart that connects them to the Sacred Heart of the Cosmic Christ and the Abiding Heart of Mother Earth.
Her work is fed by the beauty and sacred space of AnamCara, her and husband Kevin's home and biodynamic herb farm near Verona Ontario. There, she studies the development and use of sacred aromatic oils which are also used in the EarthWays retreats at Wyldwood Sojourn.
Using a variety of media, and her experience in music, teaching, plants and drama, she designs retreats to serve as tapestries of collective meaning upon which all the participants may embellish their own creative stitchery.
She is grateful to the vision of Maureen Walton and her Wyldwood Sojourn & Dark Lodge as sacred spaces in which this work might unfold.
